The People’s Voice Concert

The People’s Voice

The People’s Voice Concert under the musical direction of Sigmund Mifsud, will present a musical journey of political rock music that have brought forward a political message and influenced people’s thoughts.

The idea of the concert came about from two of  Sigmund’s favourite rock numbers which he always refrained from including in a concert since they have been warped by our two main political parties; The wind of change by The Scorpions and the Final Countdown by Europe. The concept of this concert opens up this possibility.

The repertoire will be a mix of hits and not so known songs that have a political notion from The Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, U2, Sam Cooke, John Lennon, Ozzy Osborne and obviously The Wind of Change and the Final Countdown.

The 30 piece light orchestra , under the baton of Sigmund Mifsud, will set the right platform for the interpretation of these songs from Kenneth, lead singer of group Fire, Paul Sky from Colourblind, Daryl from 12th Ode, Paul from Purple Haze, Janvil, Petra, Gloriana Arpa Belli, Chris Grech, amongst others.

During the concert the audience will surely experience a historical voyage with interpretation of hits that have criticised political decisions around the world, diverse from the usual satire acts.

The People’s Voice Concert will be held on Wednesday 30 May 2012 at Sir Temi Zammit Hall, University Campus starting at 8pm. Tickets are available from the Aqua Marina, Gzira against a donation of €10.
